Mary Fortuna remembers:
I don’t know what connection Matt may have had with the corridor, per se, but he was enormously important to the Detroit art community, both through CCS and the Artist’s Market. Matt was a dear friend, an amazing artist and craftsman, a gifted teacher and mentor, and a warm and wonderful human being. He gave me the single best and most helpful critique of my work I’ve ever had, even though he was never actually my teacher."
