John Germaine Cohn passed away Sunday
March 25th at approximately 10pm. His body was found outside of his
business/residence the AAA Frame Shop on the corner of Cass and
Antoinette in Detroit. The cause of death is not yet confirmed but it is
believed to be insulin shock. John had been battling diabetes for at
least a couple of years.
I had known John since the mid 70's when we met at his fathers original
AAA Frame Shop on Grand River near the Lodge Fwy. He lived in the
Corktown area around that time.
John was a great fan of the Blues and played some Blues harmonica
himself. He was a jovial soul and loved to attend live musical events,
especially downtown festivals.
Arrangements for John's cremation and memorial have been made by his
friend and attorney Douglas Hamil. Doug told me that John's real last
name was Germaine. He started using Cohen after his father started using
it as a part time alias.
A memorial is planned for Wednesday May 23rd at The Perry Funeral Home
at 5045 Trumbull just north of W. Warren Detroit, Mi. 48208 (313) 831 -
8533 from 6 - 7pm with plans to go for drinks afterwards, probably to
The Cass Cafe.
John's fun loving energy and spirit will be missed. He was a true Cass
Corridor original.

C...I spent sometime last nite and this morning recalling the many
events I shared with him. I will be broadcast over
WPKN in Bridgeport, CT 8pm promoting
