Hi, I lived in the front of the first building June 1975 $75.00 for the studio. Rumor has it that some of the 5th Estate crowd and myself threw the paint balloons on the side of the building one evening.This was followed later the next year with the infamous vomitthon at McDonalds. People who lived on fourth street in the same building included a woman Joan who joined the army, another woman upstairs who was a social worker, Judith in the band . Across the alley, where I moved to after D. Dickerhoff bought his studio and it was 3 times the space for $200.00 a month. In those buildings : Cheryl ?,Sue Fraser, Tom Mieczkowski, Dan Dickerhoff, Dan Johnson, Barry Murray ,Fred Oscher. A couple who got jeesis and moved upstate. Harry B. rode a Kaw 900 and used his bedroom to raise herbs. Mike and Mary Krueger. It's been 26 years since and I have left out another dozen faces but I can't recall the names |

Oh Mercy! This is fun - what a find. I lived on 4th St. in 1975-76 as a grad student at WSU. I lived up at the corner of Holden - in that cut-off little neighborhood that was lots of fun. I remember Mary and Mike K. (I lived on Forest at Second for a while too). What a time! Thanks everyone - hi from DC (no, I'm not a political appointee!). |

Such nostalgia. I moved to 4th Street in the summer of 1978. My friend Liz Conrad and I shared a one-bedroom apartment near Holden. The apartment next to me was occupied by Tony a/k/a City. Liz and I stripped all the wood to its natural oak lustre, painted the place, as it was our first venture from our parent's home all the while quoting passages from "Old Goriot" to one annother and giggling. Rob Abate and I would smash all the cockroaches with our fists and yell, "proteins." But, we soon grew bored, as there were too many kill and would look at them nonchalantly when they came dashing out of the toaster when I turned on the heat in the morning. I met many interesting people that summer and was introduced to my dissipate youth. After Liz left, "I love you Marti, but we just can't be roommates!" I moved to Alexandrine and Cass, across from the fire station. Dismal . . . |
