Sandy Zenisek passed away 04/16/07
There are few people in my life who have had as a profound impact on me as Sandy Zenisek, and her passing causes me deep grief.
I met Sandy through the immortal Michigan Gallery, which was the watering hole for a good section of the Corridor artists during the 1980-90's. We became good friends and Sandy came and visited me while I lived in New York.
Sandy had limitless curiosity, and amongst other things, mastered the somewhat intimidating medium of Micropointillism with an ease that was downright astonishing. Oh, how I wish I had one of those paintings now.
Her work was never limited by any medium; she mastered everything from oils to sculpture with a seeming ease that was breath-taking. She was a bright, bright star that dazzled my firmament and I shall miss her.

Please place rememberances about Sandy on this string; I shall place them on her page on the site.

Gilda, greetings. Cancer took Sandy, a battle that lasted almost a year and a half. When she could no longer work bronze, she composed assemblages. She painted with watercolor pens until that time that the cancer took her from us. Her spirit could not be stopped.

I'll always remember Sandy as an artist & friend living life to the fullest. I had the great fortune of working with her on a daily basis in the graphics department at the phone company. We would talk art and do tai chi whenever we could.
One spring about 16 years ago when I was taking care of my wife who was terminal, Sandy got me to take a break and go sailing with her and some friends. That was the kind of spirit she was.

I am saddened by this news too. I didn't know Sandy well, but she really touched me. I have been thinking about her for days. Rather than reiterate, I wanted to share a post I have written on my blog.
I wrote about Sandy and it is my April 23 blog entry. She was such a good person and lived life well. We can learn from her. If you are interested in reading my tribute go to: (excuse the weird way I post this URL but the message board won't take the ordinary URL. no www).

What shocking news! Sandy was such a seeetheart.
Last time I saw her was at the Dally some years ago. I first met her at the 4th St. vollyball games when Michael Klem brought her along to play.
We became pals and I cherish the large oil self-
portrait that she traded for one of my pices that
is nowhere as nice as hers. She was very generous to have traded such a stunning and extremely per-
sonal piece of work. I has hung over my bed for
years. I just love it.
I just recently had a dream that I ran into her
in a marketplace in Ann Arbor somewhere and we hugged and caught up on things. Now that she's gone it's nice to think I had one last visit from her.... soo sad....

Actually I was smacked down from hearing of Sandy's death. I have kept the email up and seen it everyday since. I wrote Sandy in my first year of sobriety, bitching about having ( or maybe better said not having) lov in my life. She
wrote back asking what lov would look like, what a mate would look like. I have kept that question in mind and am happily living with beautiful Shula Weinstein....she is just as I imagined her. I still lov, a few letters were my last contact on this plane with, Sandy ...I am, if not sad, empty

I have just learned today about Sandy's passing. She was an old old acquaintance from high school. She was one of the original tough but sweet greasers. She wore her hair ratted with a little bow in the center. Like the coiffures in HairSpray. The last time I saw her about 5 years ago, she was so happy and relieved. Please, any word on her memorial?

I apologize for being out of town, away from the electronic event horizon. To my great regret I did not get beck in time to announce the event on the site, nor attend.
Personally, it is of little import, for I will carry Sandy in my heart for the rest of my life.

I met Sandy in 1989, when Michael Klem introduced me to her. She took me into her heart and into her life, and had a profound effect upon me. We sailed together, drank together, made art together, went on adventures with each other. I was fortunate enough to model for her, and I have many of her paintings in my home. I miss you "SPandy".

Sandy was a very special person in my life. She at one time lived in my building 2000 Brooklyn.
She gave so much energy and excitement to the building. It was a great group of artist at that time and Sandy and Jerome and Ed and Holly all were so very special. They were real artist. Sandy will be missed very much. I am honored to have many of her art works. I enjoy them everyday.

Gee, I get to follow rollins. I have not the means as yet to say here what I feel, but as we enter the umbral phase of a full moon eclipse, perhaps it is the time. As I found this site and read of the departure from the planet of so many folks I have known, I am so pleased to be advised of those of us left to comment. Bless us all. Sandy, the fireworks are hailin over little eden tonight and I love you as allways. klem

Thanks everyone! Maeve's Momma, I agree too I can't stand pelope who are rude to waitresses! Kelly, thank you!Donna, I have a feeling it was a cook's fault as I heard at some point that someone in the kitchen walked out.Sarita, my mom and most of my family have been waitresses, we were taught well to give respect where it is due! :-)
