I don't think "Buzzards", a band I played bass guitar in, circa '80, '81, '82.... and who gigged a LOT at the Freezer Theater.... (many times sharing or giving their "take" at the door to "Rock Against Racism").....get their proper due respect on this website !!!
I'm very glad to see Bill Smitka (guitarist and vocalist of "Buzzards") honored .
But....I mean...Jeez !!!....SOMEONE must have taken some photos of our band (?) (!)
I also notice not only are "Buzzards"
NOT on the "band list" but "The John Brio Show" is missing as well !
I not only played bass in "Buzzards" but lived on Second for a long time, as well as other places in the Wayne State University area.
Oh well....I guess it's cool to so obscure !
("a scene within a scene").
Long live "Buzzards" and "The John Brio Show" !!!

I remember the Buzzards AND the John Brio show...fun bands.I went out with Joe Erb for awhile while his father was dying from lung cancer. What a crazy family! Joe was a good guy, but ran into some trouble and got his brains bashed in..he didn't seem the same after that although I am hoping that he eventually recovered. He was a really quite smart.

Wow Diana . I'll bet I knew you from "back in the day" but I'm terrible with remembering names !
I liked Joe Erb a lot so I am sorry to hear about his misfortune . Also, BTW ...Bill Smitka died, though I don't know the exact date .
Joe used to say to me ...(when The "The John Brio Show" used to open for "Buzzards" ..."We'll set 'em up and you guys knock 'em down" !!!
